We are living in times in which we have to be extra careful with our finances, especially now that the winter shopping fever is in full bloom. I have to admit, that I am not a person that likes to save money. I always see something nice for me, or for the children and I think, why not? I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one, but I’m here to tell you that things can change if you really want them too.
At the beginning of this year, I promised myself that I would be more careful with my spending and that I will do my best to save some money instead of being on the minus and guess what? It actually worked! It wasn't easy, but I made it and I'm here today to give you some tips, so you can make it too. It's so important to have some extra money saved, you never know what can happen and when that money will come in handy, so start doing something today.
Be careful with your expenses
You need to know how much you are spending each month in order to understand how much you can actually save up. I keep track of each months expenses and if I have a little extra, I put it aside. It’s not every month the same amount, sometimes it is more, sometimes less and sometimes I don’t have enough to save at all, the important thing is to keep going. In order to keep track of how much I save every month, I use a savings calculator like SavingsCalculator.org. They have a multitude of calculators on the site that will help you keep track of your savings and even create a growth table of savings over time. You will see that little by little every month you will get there!
Look for alternatives
I know that having lunch in a nice restaurant might sound perfect, or having a cup of coffee in the morning at Starbucks, but what if you would change this and still enjoy a perfect coffee and lunch without spending so much money? Wouldn’t that be amazing? Well, you can! It’s that simple! You can make your own fresh coffee that you can take in a special cup with you to work. You can prep your meal at home and enjoy a lovely lunch with something made by you. It’s that easy.
Since inflation is so high at the moment, even shopping in the supermarket became a luxury but don't despair! Look for the daily offers, or try to buy the home brand instead of the luxury brands, sometimes the only difference is in the name and not the quality of the products and that will help you save some money for other things. The possibilities are really endless. It’s really more about will than anything else really.
Smart shopping
It took me a while, but I got the hang of it. The thing is that I know up front what I need and I always look for that item when it’s on sale. That way I saved a lot of money and I got myself some lovely pieces with even 70% off. I always buy in summer for winter because that’s when I find the best deals and vice versa. Just the other day I bought myself a pair of gorgeous sandals for summer at a really small price. If that’s not smart shopping I don’t know what is!
Maybe my tips are not new to you and maybe you knew them yourself, but what I want you to know is that they work! I managed to save this year more than I thought I would and you can’t even imagine what a great feeling it is. Do you have other money-saving tips for me? I would love to find out your tips and tricks, so don’t be shy!
